WikiVet^® Introduction - Help WikiVet - Report a Problem

This site has been developed for veterinary graduates, students and nurses. It provides a comprehensive virtual curriculum containing a wealth of veterinary information and learning resources. Use the navigation buttons above to jump to the relevant section of the site or search for a particular topic.

WikiVet News and Updates

Welcome to all new veterinary students registering in 2014, take a look at this section which explain how you can get the most out of WikiVet during your studies.

There are currently 5,936 articles on WikiVet and 68,195 registered users of the site.

Service Update

We have had some server issues with the Dragster applications on WikiVet. It is hoped that these will be up and running shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience.

VetDoc Spain 2014

For the first time ever a Spanish language equivalent (VetDoc) of the well know VetEd Symposium was held over the weekend in Lugo, Galicia. It was a great success with more than 60 attendees and a member of the WikiVet team went along as well. Numerous interesting posters were presented with some great ideas and fantastic resources which are now being used in the veterinary syllabus in Spain. If you are interested in learning more about what went on and having a look at some of the innovative work more information can be found on the VetDoc site.

New Content on WikiVet

We have teamed up with the International Veterinary Information Service (IVIS) to provide links to over 50 sets of international Conference Proceeding from our Proceedings page. You will need to register with the IVIS site first but then access to this vast collection is totally free.4th September 2014

A new feature on WikiVet is a series of veterinary podcasts which you can access from the link on the left border. These include over 20 clinical topics recorded by Shailen Jasani through interviews with RVC Queen Mother Hospital for Animals clinicians on topics such as Transfusion Medicine. There are also 50 research podcasts on a wide range of topics such as Hot topics in animal locomotion research also recorded at the RVC. Finally there are some great podcasts from practice developed by Peter Wedderburn who is a veterinary practitioner in Ireland. 28th August 2014

WikiVet has added a selection of over 300 valuable veterinary educational links. This is probably the most comprehensive listing of its kind on the web. All the links have been been selected and reviewed by students and staff at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Each link includes a summary to indicate how these resources might be of value. 22nd August 2014

-This seven-month-old, male German Shepherd Dog started to become acutely lame on its right forelimb 5 days ago. The dog was presented as an emergency because of acute exacerbation in this limb. On physical examination the dog had a rectal temperature of 103.6°F (39.8°C); he was reluctant to stand and was only toe touching with his right forelimb once he did stand; no obvious external trauma could be seen. Orthopedic examination revealed no obvious skeletal fractures. Deep palpation of the left proximal ulna and the shaft of the right humerus was painful. Radiographs of the right humerus were taken.
