WikiVet^® Introduction - Help WikiVet - Report a Problem

WikiVet is one of the largest collections of high quality online veterinary educational resources on the web. It has been designed specifically to support veterinary students, graduates and nurses with lifelong learning.

WikiVet News and Updates

Welcome to all new veterinary students registering in 2014, take a look at this section which explain how you can get the most out of WikiVet during your studies.

There are currently 5,936 articles on WikiVet and 68,195 registered users of the site.

New Content on WikiVet

WikiVet has collaborated with Lisa Milella BVSc DipEVDC MRCVS and Mars Petcare to produce a comprehensive Small Animal Dentistry module that will be invaluable for both veterinary students and graduates.

WikiVet and Mars Petcare Collaborate to Provide High-Quality Online Veterinary Resources

WikiVet and Mars Petcare have announced a collaboration that aims to improve the quality and reach of dentistry teaching materials freely available online to veterinary students, practising veterinarians and vet nurses through WikiVet’s innovative and expanding veterinary encyclopaedia. The collaboration will develop high quality training and reference materials on certain areas of preventative dental healthcare to increase awareness and complement the growing vet school curriculum in this area.

VetPrep Lectures

VetPrep has generously provided free access to a series of e-lectures through WikiVet. These include sessions on Feline Herpes virus, PRSS, Canine Intestinal Obstructions and Equine Streptococcus. These can be accessed through the Lectures link on the left side menu.

BSAVA Support

WikiVet is pleased to announce the generous donation from the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) who have provided textbooks to support our new Challenge and outreach programs. Copies of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Dentistry will be offered to students and vetschools in the Global Challenge.

AVS and IVSA

We are also really pleased that the Association of Veterinary Students and the International Veterinary Students Association have agreed to work with WikiVet in raising awareness of the site with their associated veterinary schools. We look forward to developing this partnership in the future.

We have recently created a promotional flier for WikiVet as we are looking to recruit even more new students this year than ever before. We hope you will print out the flier and then be inspired to email it around to new students, distribute it as a handout or even stick it on a noticeboard.

-This seven-month-old, male German Shepherd Dog started to become acutely lame on its right forelimb 5 days ago. The dog was presented as an emergency because of acute exacerbation in this limb. On physical examination the dog had a rectal temperature of 103.6°F (39.8°C); he was reluctant to stand and was only toe touching with his right forelimb once he did stand; no obvious external trauma could be seen. Orthopedic examination revealed no obvious skeletal fractures. Deep palpation of the left proximal ulna and the shaft of the right humerus was painful. Radiographs of the right humerus were taken.
