=== Overview ===
[http://vetrevise.com Vet-Revise] is a flashcard application targeted towards veterinary students, that implements a spaced repetition algorithm to minimize time studying, and maximize recall.

=== Spaced Repetition ===
Spaced repetition is a proven strategy for improving retention of knowledge, and encourages users to study little and often instead of cramming before exams. Memory intrinsically has a spacing effect, whereby each time something is seen, the length of time you will remember that information increases. By reviewing material at increasing intervals, we can take advantage of this and greatly optimise our time studying and retain information indefinitely.

Unfortunately, manually organising work in this manner is very difficult. Vet-Revise uses an algorithm to schedule a student's study in the form of flashcards. They are presented to rekindle memory just before the student is most likely to forget them.

Good recall is crucial in practice, and also aids learning during the veterinary course. Revisiting modules is far less daunting, and students make links themselves between disparate parts of the course, improving understanding.

=== Student Collaboration ===
There are several flashcard applications available that utilise the spacing effect. Vet-Revise is a concerted effort to package this system in a way that veterinary students can easily use and understand the benefits.

Unlike other spaced repetition software, cards are seamlessly shared between students, giving users a large repository of veterinary and course focussed material. Flashcards contain bite sized knowledge that is easy to search through and understand.

Because the database of cards is written by actual students as they move through their course, the content they create closely parallels the teaching they have had each year. Fellow students can filter decks by their institution, course and year of study to have instant access to cards they know are relevant to them.

The Veterinary Dentistry Challenge ended at 12.00 GMT on Monday 1st December 2015. We are really excited to have had over 350 students take part from over 60 different veterinary schools. The results are fascinating and will help us identify areas that we need to provide more content to support teaching in veterinary dentistry. Final results will be announced shortly.

This brilliant [[Vet_Revise|flash card program]] has been developed by Matthew Dobson, a 4th year veterinary student at the Royal Veterinary College. Vet Revise is a sophisticated flashcard program which uses a system similar to [http://ankisrs.net/ Anki], which is a lot more efficient than traditional study methods. It not only greatly decreases your time spent studying but also increases the amount you learn. Matthew has recently been selected as a leading [http://elevator.jisc.ac.uk/sosi14/ideas/vet-revise-smarter-way-study Student Innovator] in the UK. The program has been developed for vet students and now includes over 80,000 flashcards. It has just been released for student use and we hope you will find it useful and inspire you to build and share your own card sets.

We are delighted to have received over 70 great videos from [http://sydney.edu.au/vetscience/about/staff/profiles/pietro.celi.php Dr Pietro Celi] who is Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Production and Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Science in the University of Sydney. ==== WikiVet and Mars Petcare Collaborate ====
