Aberrant conjunctival overgrowth occurs uniquely in the rabbit and is manifested by the production (growth) of conjunctive from the limbus over the cornea but not adhering to it (cf. symblepharon in which the tissue does adhere to the cornea). Treatment of aberrant conjunctival overgrowth is usually unrewarding as the condition is prone to recur but the surgical approach of resection of the aberrant tissue and suturing it to the limbus is advocated, perhaps followed by topical application of cyclosporin (Williams 2006)
