  • Affects Irish setters
  • Caused by a single major autosomal recessive gene
    • Note: most genetic diseases in dogs are autosomal recessive
      • Unlike humans- most are autosomal dominant.
  • Histology
    • Partial villus atrophy in the jejunum.
    • Increased intestinal permeability.
