  • Lead can bind to mineral portion of bone and cartilage
  • In young animals ingesting large dose at once
    • -> Lead induced malfunction of osteoclasts
    • -> Transverse band of increased density on radiographs of metaphysis = "lead line" = growth retardation lattice
