Congenital conditions of the udder

  • MALFORMATIONS:
  1. Aplasia/hypoplasia of teats
  2. Non-canalisation/abnormal canalisation of teats (inversion, fistulae)
  3. Supernumerary teats
  • PIGMENTATION:
  1. Melanosis is seen in gilts. Known colloquilly as 'seedycut'. This spontaneously dissapears during first lactogenesis.
