I work for the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine which is based within the School of Medical Sciences Education Development at Newcastle University. My role as Education Advisor covers all three subjects - but my remit is predominantly Veterinary education and development.

Gillian's involvement in WikiVet

When writing the original funding bid the WikiVet project looked like the perfect springboard from which to launch the idea of creating and sharing resources amongst all of the UK Veterinary Schools. I am thrilled that WikiVet continues to motivate all participants (and vet schools!) to continue their successful collaboration.

My best learning experience

My undergraduate degree was taken at the Open University as I returned to Education as an adult (hence my interest in widening participation). A year into my course I undertook a 'Learning Styles Questionnaire' (Honey & Mumford) and it was the most useful tool I've ever used. Discovering that I was a 'Reflector', made a lot of sense and allowed me to tailor my learning to my own natural style.

Interests

It all interests me, if it benefits the Veterinary Education constituency :)
