Higher Education Academy Centre for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine The MEDEV Subject Centre is proud to have been an instrumental part of the Wikivet project.

About Us

The Higher Education Academy was established in 2004 funded by the four HE funding councils in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Its vision is for students in UK higher education to enjoy the highest quality learning experience in the world, and it aims to:


  • Identify, develop and disseminate evidence-informed approaches
  • Broker and encourage the sharing of effective practice
  • Support universities and colleges in bringing about strategic change
  • Inform, influence and interpret policy
  • Raise the status of teaching

The Subject Subject Centre for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine (MEDEV, formerly LTSN-01) is hosted on behalf of the Academy by the School of Medical Sciences Education Development, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 7RU, United Kingdom.

The Higher Education Academy provide subject-specific support for enhancing the student learning experience through our nation-wide network of 24 Subject Centres. They are located in higher education institutions and each engages in a wide variety of activities to support academics, departments and institutions. Here is a list of the Subject Centres:
