- Carry anastamosing and branching blood vessels, connecting with bone marrow cavity and periosteum
- Surrounded bu concentric bony lamellae
- Rows of interconnected lacunae within, contain osteocytes (communicate by channels in young bones)
- Haversion canals + lamellae + osteocytes = Haversion system
