ASCARIDIA Species
- Typical fleshy ascarids.
- Up to 12cm long.
- Produces a smooth-shelled ascarid egg.
- The life-cycle is typical, except that it is non-migratory (the newly-hatched larvae either stay in the intestine or spend a short time in the intestinal mucosa).
- Heavy infections reduce growth rates and egg-production.
- Occasionally, an aberrant worm enters the oviduct and is incorporated into an egg.
