==Introduction==

Forage mites are found in livestock bedding and stored foods. They produce disease by inoculating or depositing irritant substances on the skin. Outbreaks of infection have occurred at [http://drupal.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/ The Donkey Sanctuary] following use of certain batches of straw.
==Clinical Signs==
* Irritation usually occurs in the lower limbs and is treated using pour-on preparations
==Diagnosis==
The same as that for the horse.
==Treatment==
* Application of topical [[Ectoparasiticides|pyrethrins]] has proved effective. All affected straw should be burned.
