==Introduction==
In the UK the more serious respiratory viruses are equine/asinine herpes virus and equine influenza, although other viruses such as adeno- and rhinovirus have been confirmed in donkeys with respiratory disease. Bacterial infections such as [[Strangles|strangles]] also occur but these require similar treatment to the horse so are not discussed further here.
