It then passes to the lower respiratory tract ([[Bronchi and bronchioles - Anatomy & Physiology|bronchi, bronchioles]], [[Lungs - Anatomy & Physiology|alveoli]]) where oxygen diffuses across the alveolar wall and into the blood, forming oxyhaemoglobin.
