Various spinal disorders are encountered in pet rabbits especially those confined in hutches (lack of exercise and sunlight) which then develop deformities due to the action of the strong lumbar musculature (scoliosis and kyphosis). Disc disease is also encountered. Treatment of these (inevitably chronic) conditions can only be palliative – the use of COX-sparing NSAIDs and physical musculature-stimulating therapies (eg. TENS or similar).
