For the DPhil programme, it is 4 years for full-time and 8 years for part-time students and a Masters degree is a requirement.

| − | It is governed by the General Academic Regulations for undergraduate programmes of the University of Zimbabwe and Faculty regulations. The courses are not semesterised. Candidates must pass every course in a part before proceeding to the next level. A student who fails a course may be allowed to sit for supplementary examinations. A compulsory certified 3-month extra-mural practical at a veterinary establishment for every student as from Year 3 is required.
