- Catalase and oxidase positive

- Grow on non-enriched media; NaCl supplementation required for Vibrio species

Aeromonas hydrophila
- Red-leg syndrome in amphibians
- Ulcerative stomatitis, pneumonia and septicaemia in captive snakes
- Haemorrhagic septicaemia in freshwater fish
- Abortion in cattle
- Septicaemia in young dogs
- Haemorrhagic colitis in rabbits
- Food poisoning in humans
