- Dytrophic: Calcium is deposited due to damage of the myocyte. Myocyte damage may be:
- Hypoxia.
- Vitamin E/Selenium deficiency.
- Metastatic: Occurs with elevated serum calcium for example will occur with:
- Vitamin D toxicity.
- Secondary hyperparathyroidism.
