Abi graduated with a BSc (Hons.) in 1992.  After working as a research assistant at the University of Anchorage, Alaska for 6 months Abi joined Mars Petcare within Research and Development as a research technician at the WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition working on feline metabolism of vitamin A and taurine.  In 1995, Abi was promoted to Research Scientist and spent the next 7 years studying canine and feline nutrition and urinary tract health, obtaining her PhD on this subject from University College London in 2002. In that year Abi took over management of the ornamental bird and fish research programmes working closely with the Mars Fishcare and Birdcare businesses, where she first discovered a passion for communication.  In 2005 Abi joined the WALTHAM Leadership team as Head of WALTHAM Science Communications, responsible for maximising the value of WALTHAM both within Mars Petcare and externally.  In 2013 Abi moved into Corporate Affairs as Director of Stakeholder Relations for the global Mars Petcare segment.  In this role Abi leads technical communications for the Petcare segment including nutrition and care needs of cats and dogs, responsible pet ownership, benefits of pets to people, and global leader of the Mars Petcare Academy.
