Kingsnakes are common pet snakes of the genus Lampropeltis (subfamily Colubrinae, family Colubridae). They include scarlet kingsnakes (''L. triangulum elapsoides''), grey- banded kingsnakes (''L. alterna''), Californian kingsnakes (''L. getulus californae'') and Florida kingsnakes (''L. getulus floridana'').
