  • Usually related to a disturbance of neural control e.g.
    • CNS depression (anaesthetics, pain, pyrexia)
    • Decreased excitatory (anorexia, vagus indigestion) input from forestomach receptors
    • Increased inhibitory (distension, acidosis) input from forestomach receptors
    • Motor blockade (hypocalcaemia).
