Hendra Virus

• Equine Paramyxovirus (equine morbillivirus)
• Causes espiratory infections with respiratory distress and paralysis
• Oedematous lungs with distention of pleura
• Microscopically: diffuse alveolar oedema, syncytial cells
• Potentially zoonotic (beware palpating inside the throat for obstruction)
