Liasis is an Australasian genus of python containing at least ten species. They include four small brown pythons from Australia (L. childreni, L. maculosus, L. perthensis and L. stimsoni), two moderate to large species from Australia (the water python (L.fuscus) and the olive python (L. olivaceus)) four moderate to large species from New Guinea (the ringed python (L. boa), D’Alberti’s python (L.albertisii), Macklot’s python (L. mackloti) and the Papuan python (L. papuanus).
