Psammophinae are a subfamily of Colubridae with snakes that are characterised by greatly reduced hemipenes. They are diurnal and rear-fanged. Genera include sand snakes (Psammophis spp.), skaapstekers (Psammophylax spp.) and the Montpellier snake (Malpolon spp.).
