Anomalepididae
Members of the family Anomalepididae are very small burrowing blind snakes. They are among the most primitive of snakes although they lack a pelvic girdle. The long narrow jaws bear a single tooth or none at all. They are mostly brown or black with some species having white or yellow heads. Four genera, Anomalepis, Liotyphlophis, Helminthophis and Typhlophis, are distributed through continental Central and South America.
