Dysplasia
Aplasia - defective development or complete absence of an organ/tissue due to a failure in development
Dysplasia - an abnormality of development or an alteration in size, shape and organisation of adult cells
- Disorganised development of the renal parenchyma as a result of anomalous differentiation.
- Most kidneys are small, cystic and fibrosed. Histologically the presence of anomalous structures can be seen.
- Can be congenital or acquired during the neonatal period.
- Hypovitaminosis A, viral infections or ureteral obstruction are predisposing factors.
