*Occurs mainly in [[Equine Alimentary System - Anatomy & Physiology|horses]]
*Dynamic
*Marked ulceration of caudal boarder of [[Soft Palate|soft palate]] due to its flapping
*50% have concurrent lower airway disease
*Sometimes improves with improved fitness
*May be associated with trigeminal, vagus and glossopharyngeal neuropathies

*Secondary to neurological damage (e.g. guttural pouch disease, neoplasia, peripheral neuropathies
*Mainly in horses
