The University of Concepción (in Spanish: Universidad de Concepción), also known for its acronym UdeC, is one of the most prestigious universities in Chile. Veterinary medicine was primarily founded in the City of Concepción in 1972, under tuition of the Biology Institute attached to its own School, the School of Veterinary Medicine. Later in 1973 it was moved to the Chillán campus where the administrative structure was changed, giving rise to the Department of Veterinary Medicine as part of the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences.<br />

The studies of Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences last five years (10 semesters). It is a biological medical teaching, designed to train professionals capable to cover the occupational fields of the specialty. <br />
