Scrapie - summary
Scrapie is a neurological disease of sheep first recorded in 1732. Clinical signs include progressive ataxia and pruritis. Histology shows vacuolation of CNS (brain and spinal cord). Agent of disease is a prion, which is a transmissible, infectious protein with an abnormal folding structure.
