- Grossly:
- Erythema, scaling and crusting
- -> Wrinkled nand thickened skin
- Squamous cell carcinoma or haemangiosarcoma/haemangioma may develop
- Microscopically:
- Dyskeratotic cells
- Intercellular oedema
- Vacuolated keratinocytes
- Followed by hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis and acanthosis
- Endothelial swelling
- Haemorrhage
- Hyperplasia
- Dermal fibrosis
- Dogs may develop actinic comedones
