About me
I graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1990 and spent 3 years in general veterinary practice in the North of England before moving to the R(D)SVS to study for a PhD in immunology. I subsequently specialised in veterinary pathology and became Director of Veterinary teaching in 2003. I am interested in pathology but also extremely interested in veterinary medical education and education in general.

What I hope to get out of this project
This is an exciting time for veterinary education and I hope by exploring the use of web 2.0 technologies we can find out a lot about what it is good for and what it isn't. I also hope that this is the start of something big!
My best learning experience
Probably seeing 'real' disease in the post mortem room and then linking it to what is written in standard texts. It's all about 'making it real'!
Pathology that interests me
All of it really - (apart from bone pathology.....) General diagnostics and research pathology (infectious disease, nuclear transfer related pathology)
Pathology that is difficult
Bone
CNS
Defining the histogenesis of poorly differentiated tumours
Cases that don't read the textbooks
People I work with
Linda Morrison
Sarah McFarland

DAY ONE THOUGHTS
What (three things) I learnt today
A bit more about wiki editing, linking etc., that others are equally enthusiastic,
What I still need to learn
probably quite a lot - but not sure what yet - about to enter the great unknown......
How I feel about what has happened today
see above - tiring, challenging - ready to get started.!
Three weeks into the wikivet project (or thereabouts)
Sections I've been working on
- no specific ones - just occasional 'wanderings', the odd image here and there and odd typo correction
What I feel I've gained so far from being involved in the project
- Main thing for me is that the community is alive, kicking and growing!!
- ..and that's fun :-)
Problems or issues that I've had or can forsee
- The usual 'time' problem but what I see here is still so much enthusiasm for the project which is great - the involvement of students has been a revelation!
- The complexities of linking things (ref. the SI/ LI discussion) - OK - i still never got around to playing with the mindmaps!
- Confliscting schemes for categorising things e.g. orla tumours - but this could turn into a 'plus'!
