  • Usually due to strangulating lesions including intestinal displacements, intussusception etc.

Pathology

Gross

  • Intense oedema
  • Congestion
  • Haemorrhage
  • Eventually dark red/black discolouration of intestine.

Histological

  • Transmural oedema, haemorrhage and necrosis.
