Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine under Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Established University was established in 1937 as 'Bengal Agricultural Institute' and then converted into 'Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University' in 2001 with only the 'Faculty of Agriculture'. The Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine was started in 2012. The Faculty of Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine under Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University is a new faculty to make complete livestock graduates who have both hand, treatment and production. It was started its journey from 2012. It comprises of 10 departments and qualified teachers. List of departments is as follows:

About Us

The Faculty of Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine under Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University was established in 2012 to meet the increasing demand of combined livestock graduate. Development of livestock sector in Bangladesh became slower due to clash among graduates and division into two different part one was Veterinary (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) and another was Animal Husbandry (BSc in AH) from their mother degree BSc in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. To solve that problem some devoted peoples try hard and at last Krishibid A F M Bahauddin Nasim, former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shah-e-Alam, Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque Beg and many others came to a decision to return combined degree. Then the Department of Animal Husbandry of the Faculty of Agriculture was converted to the Faculty of Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine. Chairman of the department Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque Beg became the first dean of the faculty. In 03rd January of 2012, honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shah-e-Alam inaugurated the faculty.

Education

The faculty offers Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.Sc. in Vet. Sci. & A. H.). Every year 75 students can admit into the faculty.Masters of Science will be started soon.

Current Research

Some research projects are going on by our teachers. It is mainly with the fund of various organizations. Though there is no post-graduate students, no research work is going on by students.

Clinical Services

Clinic is not yet running but in processing. Although some of our teachers visit patients personally.
