Introduction
Faculty of veterinary & Animal Science (FVAS) of SAU is the dynamic and mother faculty whose members are dedicated to preparing veterinarians and veterinarian scientists while advancing animal and human health from the cellular level through entire ecosystems.
History
Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science,Sylhet Agricultural University is the 2nd oldest Veterinary Faculty of Bangladesh. This faculty started as Sylhet Govt. Veterinary College on 1996. Later on 2006 Sylhet Agricultural University was formed based on this college and the college was included as the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science in the University.
Education
This faculty mainly provide the DVM(doctor of veterinary medicine) degree. MS degrees are also provided in number of Departments like Anatomy and Histology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Epidemiology and Public health, Medicine, Surgery, Genetics and Animal Breeding, Livestock Management, Dairy Science, Poultry Science.
Research
Research facilities are available here. Research are going on specially on Medicine, Anatomy, Epidemiology and Public Health, Dairy Science, and Pharmacology.
Clinical
There is a Veterinary Clinics in the faculty that provide all short of clinical service to the local people. There is a number of Veterinarians are working there full time. Several diagnostic facilities are also available there. A very well equipped new Veterinary Hospital is now under construction.
