''Clostridium piliforme'' is a spore-forming filamentous Gram negative '''intracellular''' pathogen. The colonies only grow in tissue culture or embryonated eggs. The disease it causes is called [[Tyzzer's Disease|Tyzzer's disease]] characterised by severe hepatic necrosis. It occurs sporadically in foals, calves, dogs and cats. It has an ncubation period up to 1 week.
