|Introduction=The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade is the largest veterinary school in Serbia, with a long tradition and a renowned reputation in the region. It is situated in downtown Belgrade between Slavia sqare and Autokomanda square, in close proximity of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry. When founded, over seventy five years ago, it was located at the edge of a fast developing city. In the not so distant past, some steps have been initiated towards its dislocation to a more remote area.

In the not so distant past, some steps have been initiated towards its relocation to a more suitable and remote area.

|History=Although the idea of founding the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine arose at the beginning of the twentieth century, the institution was established upon the Declaration of the Department of Education Act No 30281/36 in 1936. It was at that point that the newly founded institution was named the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Belgrade. On August 19th, 1936. the first professors were elected and the courses started. The professors were mainly chosen amongst the lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine and/or the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. The First Dean was Professor Živojin Đorđević, PhD. A total of 149 students were enrolled in Class 1936. , and the classes were held at the premises of the Faculty of Medicine.
