The foundation decree of Uludag University Veterinary Faculty, as the 4th Veterinary Faculty of the country, was made on May 14, 1976 dated meeting of the senate of the Bursa University, which was the name of the University at that time. The demand for more qualified veterinarians as well as the need for the better utilization of tne continuously developing large animal potential in Bursa and its environs were important factors for one establishment of the faculty.

On April 14, 1978, the veterinary faculty officially opened its doors to the community of Bursa. At the beginning, the administrative board and educational staff of the Faculty had been structured by the temporary appointment of faculty members of the Ankara University, and Prof.Dr. Cemal Nadi AYTUG was appointed as the first Dean.The other founding members were Prof. Dr. Ozturk TEKELi, Assoc. Prof.Dr.Ahmet MiNBAY, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aydın EVREN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafet ARPACIK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suleyman TECiRLiOGLU and Assoc. Prof, Dr. Yalcın YILDIRIM.

With the enrolment of 46 students, the veterinary education and training program has been initiated temporarily nearby the City Slaughter and Processing Plant in Karapinar a suburb of Bursa in 1978, In 1981, the Animal Hospital of the Ministry of Agriculture located in the city center was transferred to me faculty.

In 1994, the faculty moved to its new building constructed in the University Campus where the Animal Hospital, Animal Production, Research and Application Center, the Wildlife Research Center and supporting units are also present.
