This tick transmits Lyme disease (''Borrelia burgdorferi''), ''Babesia canis'', ''B.gibson'', ''Erlichia canis'', ''E.vogeli'', ''Salmonella enteritidis'', ''Hepatozoon canis'', ''Rickettsia conorii'', Q fever, ''[[Rickettsia rickettsii]]'' (Rocky mountain spotted fever) to dogs.
