In this specimen there are vegetative lesions on the affected valve.  These will consist of a loose aggregation of platelets, fibrin and bacterial colonies.  As this is a pig specimen the lesion is likely to be on the mitral valve with septic emboli disseminating to a range of organs, including the liver and kidneys.
