General Structure

  • In the ewe and nanny goat, the mammary gland is restricted to the inguinal region.
  • Comprises two mammary complexes, one on each side of the ventral midline.
  • Each complex consists of a single mammary unit.
    • Duct system of each mammary unit opens in a single orifice on the tip of the teat.


Lymphatics

  • In the ewe, lymph may drain directly into the iliofemoral and medial iliac lymph nodes.
