Rabbit Nematodes

There are several nematodes that can be found in the gastrointestinal tract of rabbits. The most important are:

Passalurus ambiguus
Graphidium strigosum
Trichostrongylus retortaeformis
Strongyloides papillosus
Trichuris leporis
Capillaria hepática
Protostrongylus spp

The importance of those parasites differs with the type of production of the animal. In intensive production, parasites have low importance, due to the controlled environment and food, and controlled contact with other animals. On the other hand, in wild rabbits, this may be an issue as they may infect domestic animals.
