Okerman (1994) lists the causes of blindness as:
- Inherited glaucoma; glaucoma is seen as an inherited condition in rabbits carrying the recessive bu gene.
- Disturbances of the CNS
- Myxomatosis.
- Cataracts
- Panophthalmitis
