What abnormal sign is shown in the photograph?	The photograph shows a symmetrical swelling of the abdomen with elevation of the scales to give a ‘pine cone’ appearance to the fish. There is also bilateral exophthalmos present. The changes are those typical of ‘dropsy’ in which there is an upset in the fluid balance mechanisms with retention of fluid within the abdominal cavity and tissues. Tissue edema results in retrobulbar swelling which in turn produces the exophthalmos.		Link to Article
What other signs are often associated with this problem?	Edema in other tissues may be apparent, as well as swelling of the vent or of bowel loops when examined at necropsy.		Link to Article
