Since 1971 the Universidade Castelo Branco has been graduating profissionals highly qualified and contributing to the society development.

Through neutering of dogs and cats , promotes control over the reproduction of the species ; promotes space community orientation on veterinary procedures that allow an improvement in the quality of life of animals , and develop opportunities for discussion and reflection on the effectiveness of different public policy as a means of increasing community participation in the control of animal reproduction .

The veterinarian is the one who takes care of animal health through the prevention and treatment of diseases. In the Veterinary Medicine course, students will study subjects in the field of animal health and animal production and others that deal with the processing of animal products and their inspection before human consumption . At UCB , the course works in an area of 150.000m ² with environmental protection , infrastructure for medical care of pets and production ( Clinical School ) and clinical support , as well as food analysis laboratories .
Classes are geared to meeting the professional needs to be formed supported on the teacher as a facilitator and mediator of the teaching- learning process favoring the construction of knowledge . Based on this principle was in the course structure of Veterinary Medicine, University Castelo Branco the need for deployment of nuclei formed by the faculty to develop with the support of the joint coordination between education research and extension as follows :
Core Extension develops along the course and implementing community outreach projects work routines in strategic areas such as public health / preventive veterinary medicine and animal production inspection of products of animal origin pathology clinical pathology clinical reproductive technology and veterinary surgery in addition to developing programs among the rural community. This core consists of a permanent team of teachers who are in charge of creating the planning and supervision of the extension activities .
It is for the core extension plan and manage the course coordinator enrichment activities .

Nucleus Research : aims to encourage the development of scientific research with effective participation of faculty and students . The dissemination of results happens in scientific congresses weeks seminars publications in journals and technical magazines among others . The core also promotes interaction with public and private agencies for research funding as well as coordinating the creation of a veterinary journal of UCB with research publications made in this institution .
Besides the routine activities of this core lies the same manage the entire faculty who are developing research. In this case each professor involved shall be a member of the core.
In this sense the Universidade Castelo Branco has coordinated by the Dean of Research and Graduate institutional research program that includes undergraduate students of students with scholarships and funding of projects developed by students and teachers .
Thus the course aims to stimulate the realization of experiments and research projects in various areas of professional working constantly seeking insert it into integrated and interdisciplinary practices enabling experience in academic activities and routines thus improving the learning process .
