The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno was founded on 12 December 1918 as Veterinary University in Brno. The university's founder and first rector was Prof. Eduard Babák. From its inception, the university developed as a single-faculty university aimed at veterinary medicine.
