Drugs with sedative and tranquilising effects are of great use in veterinary medicine. For the safety of both man and animal, it is sometimes necessary to modify an animals mood or behaviour, and to practically permit certain procedures chemical restrain is required. Sedatives and tranquilisers fall into three main categories of drug:
