Kingsnakes are common pet snakes of the genus Lampropeltis (subfamily Colubrinae, family Colubridae). Kingsnakes include scarlet kingsnakes (L. triangulum elapsoides), grey-banded kingsnakes (L. alterna), Californian kingsnakes (L. getulus californae) and Florida kingsnakes (L. getulus floridana). The common kingsnake (L. getulus) has a wide range of North America. Environmental requirements include a temperature range of 23-30°C and a humidity of 50-70%. They are terrestrial snakes.
