Mambas (Dendroaspis spp.) are of the subfamily Bungarinae, family Elapidae. The four species inhabit tropical and subtropical Africa and are fast-moving diurnal venomous snakes. The black mamba (D. polylepsis) is terrestrial while the others are arboreal.
