Introduction
SQPs, or 'suitable qualified persons' are tained by the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) and, after passing the appropriate examinations are considered to be qualified to dispense medication in the relevant categories (POM - VPS and NFA-VPS).
The qualification consists of a base unit plus modules that cover POM-VPS and NFA-VPS for specific sectors of the animal medicines available. CPD for qualified SQPs is compulsory.
SQP Modules
- R-SQP: all VPS medicines
- C-SQP: companion animal VPS medicines
- K-SQP: farm and companion VPS medicines
- E-VPS: equine and companion animal VPS medicines
- G-SQP: farm animal and equine VPS medicines
- J-SQP: equine VPS medicines
- L-SQP: farm animal VPS medicines
Exemptions
Qualified veterinary nurses are able to apply for exemptions from some of the training.
