Laryngitis can occur as part of an extension of an upper or lower viral or bacterial respiratory infection
- eg: IBR, FHV-1, EHV-1, influenza viruses
- eg: Bordetella bronchiseptica, Strep. equi.subsp. zooepidemicus/equi, Pasteurella multocida
May cause
- Obstruction to airflow
- Aspiration pneumonia
Acute inflammation passes through the same stages as in rhinitis
